Mary Eleanor Davis Watkins, age 89, of Enterprise, AL, passed away, Monday, May 25, 2020 after a brief illness.


          Born in Samson, AL, June 14, 1930, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.  Mary was a paraprofessional in the Enterprise School System for 24 years.  A devoted member of Enterprise First United Methodist Church, she was a loyal choir member for almost 60 years.  Her legacy of faith, love and determination in the face of adversity is best summed up in the words of Matthew 25:23, “Well done, my good and faithful servant…”.


          Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Annie Belle Davis, her husband, Billy Paul Watkins and a sister and brother-in-law, Harriet Davis and Glenn McDuffie.


          Survivors include two daughters, Harriet Watkins Giles (William) Auburn, AL; Paula Watkins Harris (Russell) Pensacola, FL; two granddaughters, Katherine Davis Giles, Auburn, AL; Margaret Exley Giles, Nashville, TN; as well as several nieces, nephews and special friends, Margaret Gorum and Renee’ Owens of Enterprise.


          A private graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 29, 2020 at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Rev. Tonya Elmore officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Enterprise First United Methodist Church, 217 South Main Street, Enterprise, AL 36330, or a charity of your choice.
