Mary Elizabeth Stewart, 79, of Ozark passed away Friday May 15, 2015 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 10am Saturday May 23, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9am until 10am Saturday.

Mrs. Stewart was born January 4, 1936 in Huntington Long Island, New York lived the early years of her life there. She moved to L.A. to pursue a modeling career and was also employed as an operator with the telephone company. She later became employed with the L.A. District Attorney serving in the family support services division until her retirement in 1989. Mrs. Stewart moved to Ozark in the early 1990’s and she was a member of the Alabama Democratic Commission and served on the board of Ozark Public Library. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her husband, Almus Nathaniel Stewart.
