Mary Ellen McSween

Mary Ellen McSween, a resident of Ashford, AL passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021. She was 76 years old.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 11:00 am in Ashford City Cemetery with Dr. Ricky Plummer officiating.

Mary Ellen was born on December 7, 1944 to the late Henry (Jack) and Reba Adams Bruner in Ashford, AL. She was a graduate of Ashford High School and a 1967 graduate of Troy State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Education. Mary Ellen taught school for several years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling to cheer on her grandchildren, and her morning devotionals overlooking her beautiful flower garden.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Lamar (Jack) and Reba Adams Bruner.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, James McSween; her son, Steve McSween; her daughter, Amelia McDonald; her grandchildren, Patrick McDonald and Ashley McDonald; her brother, John Bruner; and her sister, Elizabeth Ann (Doug) Simmons.
