Mary Ellen Schafer joined her son and several special friends in Heaven on Monday morning April 6, 2015 after a short but harrowing battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Byrd directing.

Born May 20, 1947 Mary Ellen lived a full and beautiful life, although rough at times, she endured all things and came out a stronger person for it all. She loved Christmas, Halloween, her garden flowers, her dogs and most of all her Husband Jim. Often called "Sarge", "Grandma Fruitcake" or "Auntie M", she was loud and boisterous, loved by many and will be missed immensely by those she left behind. Her stories will certainly live forever in our hearts! She is survived by her Husband of 20 years Jim Stewart, whom she often called her Hero. She is also survived by her "Sister Friends" Patricia Lambert, Stephanie Hogue, Paula Rawlett and Debra Murphy. Other survivors include nieces and nephews Trishka Pestotnik, Chris Beasley, Aaron Carroll, Heath and Sarah Andrews. Great nieces and nephews Tabytha and Alexander Cribb, Sabrina Pestotnik and Chayden Andrews.
