Mary Ellen Smith, a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020. She was 79 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brenda Yon officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10-11 am.
Mrs. Smith was born on September 17, 1941 in Echo, Alabama and resided there the early years of her life. She would later move to Dothan where she would lovingly raise her family. Mrs. Smith was a wonderful cook, well known for her fried chicken, pound cake, peach cobbler, and dumplings all made from scratch. Mrs. Smith was a member of Rocky Branch Congregational Holiness Church in Dothan.
Survivors include her sons, William Smith and Frankie Smith; her daughter, Mary Ann Smith; her 3 grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Joshua Kolonusz, and Dylan Smith; her 2 great grandchildren, Anna “A. K.” Smith and Bowin Kolonusz; and several nieces and nephews.
