DOTHAN. . .Mary Ethel Hardy Ethridge, a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday night, February 8, 2012, at her home. She was 88.



            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 11, 2012, in the Kinsey Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Strickland, Reverend David Starling and Reverend Brad Hardy officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday in the sanctuary of the Kinsey Baptist Church.



            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kinsey Baptist Church Building Fund, 6745 Walden Drive, Kinsey, AL. 36303.



            Mrs. Ethridge was born in Houston County, near Headland, daughter of the late Lonnie Jefferson Hardy, Sr. and Clifford McClenny Hardy. She was a 1942 graduate of the Houston County High School in Columbia. Mrs. Ethridge lived in Dothan most of her adult lifetime. She was a member of the Kinsey Baptist Church where she was President of the XYZ Senior Adults, served as teacher of the Beatrice Jarvis Sunday School Class and was a member of the L & B Jarvis Sunday School Class. Mrs. Ethridge also served on various committees and was active in most church activities. She was a faithful volunteer worker with the Columbia Baptist Association Ministry Center.



            Mrs. Ethridge was a retired employee of Ansell, Inc. and in earlier years was employed by Wex-Tex Manufacuring Co. of Headland and J. C. Penney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Orlan Ethridge, three brothers, Curtis Hardy, Oree Hardy and L. J. Hardy, Jr., two half brothers, Lester Hardy and Earnest Hardy and a half sister, Trudie Mae Adkins.



            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Dale Starling and husband, Rev. David Starling, Henagar, AL; Terri Mathis and husband, Everett Mathis, Dothan; two sons, Ronald Ethridge and wife, Glenda Ethridge, Cowarts; and Ray Ethridge and wife, Elnore Ethridge, Kinsey; a brother, Thurman (Fireball) Hardy, Kinsey; nine grandchildren, Stacey Ethridge (Debbie), Brandon Ethridge, Wade Ethridge (Brandi), Kendra Hagler (Norman), Eryn Thrash (Heath), Candace Edmonds (Kyle), D.J. Starling (Kerry), Brittany Turner (T), and Tyler Mathis; nine great-grandchildren, Megan Ethridge, Landon Ethridge, Briggs Ethridge, Hardy Ethridge, Hank Ethridge, Ranah Kate Ethridge, Brooke Hagler, Kaitlyn Wilson and Kylie Edmonds; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dot Hardy, Tumbleton Community; Janis Hardy, Dothan; Ava Reneau, Kinsey; Betty McNab, Niceville, FL; Doris Owens, Headland; Nina Rabe, Kinsey; Myra Scruggs and husband, Kenneth, Pensacola; Faye Ethridge, Dothan; Monroe Ethridge and wife, Annice, Headland; numerous nieces and nephews.



            Serving as active pallbearers will be the grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
