Mary Frances Goodson Hatcher passed away March 31, 2023, at Hartford HealthCare at the age of 92. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Hartford Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Spivey, Rev. Les Hughes and Rev. Scott Cox officiating. Visitation will begin one hour before the service, at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery with Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home directing. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Hartford Baptist Garden of Eden Prayer Garden. The family will be at the home of Stacy Hatcher in Hartford.
Mrs. Hatcher was born April 12, 1931, in Coffee County to the late Sam D. and Bessie Goodson. She was a sixty-year cancer survivor. Mrs. Hatcher served over fifty years in the Lily Garden Club and was a Lifetime Member of the Garden Clubs of Alabama. She was also a member of St. Paul Homemakers Club, the Hartford Senior Citizens, the Red Hatters and the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She was married for 52 years to the late Joe P. Hatcher and had lived in Hartford since 1949. She worked as a hairdresser and later as a florist at Beldream and Adana Florists. Mrs. Hatcher loved gardening and sharing her day lilies.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph P. Hatcher, parents Samuel and Bessie Goodson, and brother Collis Goodson.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Stacy (Cary) Hatcher of Hartford, Gary (Carolyn) Hatcher of Trussville, and Greg (Tina) Hatcher of Hartford; four grandchildren: Jessi (Chase) Thomas of Dothan; Brian (Amanda) Hatcher of Trussville; Casey (John) Cooper of Hartselle; and Anna (Zach) Essig of Indio, California; and five great-grandchildren: Kate and Luke Cooper, Layne and Blakeley Hatcher and Emma Thomas; several nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers are: Danny Goodson, Tom Goodson, Sam Goodson, Jeremy Goodson, Rob Andress, Len White, Kenneth Crook, Neal Goodson and Josh Goodson. Honorary pallbearers are: Dorcas Sunday School Class and Ester Sunday School Class.
