ABBEVILLE.…Mary Helen Powell Whitehead Baker, a resident of Abbeville, Alabama passed away Tuesday night, November 24, 2020, at her home. She was 91.


            No services planned at this time.


            The family ask for any contributions, to be made to Calvary Baptist Church of Abbeville, 310 Dothan Road, Abbeville, Alabama 36310 or Kindred Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, Alabama 36303.


            Mrs. Baker was born in Troy, Alabama to the late Parnell C. Powell, Sr. and Lois Beryl Powell. She lived in Troy until moving to Abbeville over 50 years ago. She attended Calvary Baptist Church in Abbeville, where she was very active and was member of the choir. She loved working in her yard and crocheting. Mrs. Baker enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.


            Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her husbands: Hillard Whitehead and Robert Baker; and her brother, Carroll Ben Powell.


            Leaving to cherish her memories are her daughter, Judy Potts (Victor) of Webb, Alabama; her son, James Whitehead (Sheila) of Headland; her sisters, Lois Eleanor Rachel, and Sandra Diane Worrell; her brothers, Parnell C. Powell, Jr. & Bobby Durwood Powell.
