Mary Jewell Ready

Mary Jewell Ready, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021. She was 92 years old.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Crestlawn Cemetery, Avon, Alabama. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to The Blayne Hardy Barfield Foundation, www.bhbfoundation.org.

Mrs. Ready was born on May 4, 1929 to the late Abner and Ida Neely Smith. She loved her family dearly, time spent with them was always a joy. Mrs. Ready enjoyed cooking and traveling.

Mrs. Ready was preceded in death by the father of her children, Billy Ready, her 3 sisters, her brother, and her son-in-law.

Survivors include her daughters, Rhonda Johnston of Arkansas, Starla (Joel) Barfield of Dothan, and Ferris (Glen) Thweatt of New York; her 5 grandchildren, Justin Barfield, Jamie (Lauren) Barfield both of Dothan, Laci (Alex) Klinkhammer of Minnesota, Garrison Thweatt of Arkansas, and Kiley (Cindee) Johnston of Arkansas; her 6 great grandchildren, Lilly Barfield, Lawson Klinkhammer, Brooklyn Klinkhammer, Sienna Johnston, Ella Johnston, and Eli Johnston; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Justin Barfield, Jamie Barfield, Garrison Thweatt, and Alex Klinkhammer.
