MARY  JOHNSON   SNOW




COLUMBIA, ALABAMA. . .Mary Johnson Snow, a resident of Columbia, Alabama, died Friday, February 14, 2014, at her home. She was 85.



            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 16, 2014, in the First Baptist Church of Columbia with Reverend Joey Hudspeth and Dr. Walter Reeder officiating. Graveside services will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan, with Reverend Tony Deese officiating.  Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M Sunday in the church sanctuary.



            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Columbia, P.O. Box 267, Columbia, AL 36319.



            Mrs. Snow was born and reared in Talladega County, near Lincoln, Alabama, daughter of the late Mack Leonard Johnson and Vera Whitehead Johnson. She was a graduate of the Lincoln High School and received a degree in Elementary Education from Jacksonville State University. Mrs. Snow was retired as an Elementary School Teacher from the Oxford City School System. She was formerly employed as a teacher in the Calhoun County School System.



            Mrs. Snow was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia and served as the Secretary of the W.M.U. and as a Sunday school teacher. She was a former member of the Lincoln Baptist Church where she was active in various activities of the church as well as teaching Sunday school. Mrs. Snow was Chairman of the Board of the Columbia Nutrition Center and was a member of a retired teachers’ club, N.D.Y. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Cecil Snow, and a sister, Margaret Ann Fain.



            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Karen Snow Williams (Andy), Columbia, AL; a son, Byron Snow, Olive Branch, Mississippi; a brother, Leonard Johnson (Barbara), Lincoln, Alabama; five grandchildren, Adam Williams, Jason Williams, Kevin Williams, Jeremy Snow, and Christiana Snow.
