Mary Laverne “Ms. Vernie” LeFebvre
Mary Laverne “Ms. Vernie” LeFebvre, age 85 of Dothan, passed away early Friday morning, October 2, 2020, at Jackson Hospital, in Marianna, FL following an extended illness.
Graveside services for Mary will be held at 3pm Monday, October 5, 2020 at Gardens of Memory with Reverend Don Tew officiating.
Mary was born in Birmingham on October 9, 1934 to the late Jim and Bertha Haslett Lewis. She was a charter member at Heritage Baptist church serving as the Librarian for 25 years, as well as the former director for the summer Vacation Bible Schools. She was a great cook and was well known for her wedding cakes. Mary was an avid Alabama fan (Roll Tide) and Tide Pride member. For many years Mary served as the secretary/office manager at Allied Acoustics in Dothan, which she and her late husband, William LeFebvre, founded in 1972. After William passed away in 1988, Mary became the owner/operator, a position that she held until the business closed in 2008.
In addition to her parents and her late husband, William, Mary was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Lewis.
Mary is survived by two sons, Neal (Julia) LeFebvre of Dothan, David LeFebvre of Dothan; three grandchildren Will LeFebvre of Auburn, Taylor (Nathan) Miller of Dothan, Alisha (Michael) Merritt of Huntsville, two great grandchildren Samuel Miller and Veronica Merritt. Several nieces and nephews are also left to survive.
