ABBEVILLE. . .Mary Lou Hancock Beasley, a resident of Abbeville, died Sunday morning, December 18, 2016, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility. She was 90.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 20, 2016, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Clyde Hancock, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Shorterville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Abbeville Fire &Rescue, P.O. Box 427, Abbeville, AL 36310 or to The Justin Watford Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o HNB First, P.O. Box 157, Headland, AL 36345.
Mrs. Beasley was born and reared in Henry County, daughter of the late Joseph Oree Hancock and Ozie Lee Hendley Hancock. She lived most of her lifetime in Shorterville before moving to Abbeville in 1985. She was retired from WestPoint Stevens after twenty-five years employment. She was a member of the Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Beasley was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Wallace Beasley, her sons, Larry Beasley and Billy Beasley, a sister, Nell Bedsole, four brothers, Clyde Hancock, William Hancock, Jessie Hancock and Wilford Hancock.
Surviving relatives include a daughter-in-law, Jeannetta Beasley, Abbeville; four sisters, Ruby Mims, Earnestine Harpe Tapley, Maggie Carter and Peggy Culpepper, all of Abbeville; four grandchildren, Larry K. (Bo) Beasley, Allison (Aggie) Barron, Joy Beasley and Stephanie Messick; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Barron, Karlee Barron, Austin Beasley, Sarah Beth Beasley, Meleah Williams (Josh), Sheldon and Shane Messick; numerous nieces and nephews.
Seving as active pallbearers will be Larry Beasley, Tyler Barron, Austin Beasley, Josh Williams, Billy Wayne Bedsole, John Purcell, Pete Beasley, Everett Culpepper and Jimmy Mobley.
