She attended a one-room schoolhouse there, and in 1939, graduated from Quincy High School. Lucile graduated from the Florida State School of Nursing in Chattahoochee, FL, as an RN.
With WWII underway, Lucile and a friend enlisted in the US Army in July, 1943. They were stationed at Ft. In December, 1947, she met the love of her life, William Hollon (Bill) Cain, of Enterprise, in Quincy, FL. They were married May 23, 1948, and were married for 53 years before his death in 2001. Bill and Lucile lived in Dothan, AL, briefly before moving to Geneva in 1956, where they resided for 45 years. They were active members of the First UMC in Geneva. Lucile worked as a Private Duty nurse in Dothan, but was hired as Director of Nursing at Wiregrass Hospital in Geneva in 1958. She retired in 1983 after 25 years of employment.
