Date of Service: Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 5th, 2022 at First United Methodist Church Dothan with Rev. Lynn Nesbitt officiating. Graveside services will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Parlor of First United Methodist Dothan until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to “Dothan’s Rescue Mission”. The Dothan Rescue Mission is a haven of hope for the lost and lonely and who call the streets their home. Mary Morris Juergens of Dothan, Alabama passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, January 31, 2022. She was 79.

Mary was born in Atlanta, Georgia on April 22, 1942 to the late Walter and Mary Landers Morris. In 1975, Mary moved to Dothan with her two sons, Walter John Joyce and the late James “Jim” Thomas Joyce, Jr., where she lived out the remainder of her life. While in Dothan, Mary met and married Everett Lee Juergens in 1987. They were happily together for 19 years until Everett’s passing in 2007. Mary lived a very colorful and joyous life. She had numerous hobbies and interests including collecting and selling antiques, watching and cheering for Alabama football, dressing to the nines all while staying on top of fashion trends, and most importantly, spending time with her beloved family.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Lee Juergens, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter C. Morris; her oldest son, James “Jim” Thomas Joyce Jr., her brother Walter “Jack” Morris, her sister-in-law, Glenda Morris; her nephew, Landy Morris; her niece, Helen Carla Nix; her brother-in-law, James Carlton Nix, Jr.
Mary leaves behind her son, Walter John Joyce and his wife Nancy, her grandchildren, Claudia and James Joyce; her granddaughter and her husband, Anna Kate and Cory Rogers; her brother, Larry, and his wife, Joann Morris; her sister, Martha Nix; Her step-daughter, Julie Harris and her husband, Rob; her step-son, Eric Juergens; her step-granddaughter, Rachel. If you can safely attend the services, please try and wear a pop of color or a little pizzazz in Mary’s honor. In lieu of sending flowers to the remaining family, please plant wildflower seeds in memory of Mary and her colorful life.
