PHENIX CITY…Mary Peterson Arnold, a resident of Phenix City, died late Thursday evening, January 28, 2021, in a Columbus, Georgia hospital. She was 89.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 2, 2021, in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan, with her nephew, Larry O’Neil Kirkland, officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. Social distancing and mask guidelines will be observed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mary and Mack Arnold to Blackwoods Community Church, 1826 County Road 44, Headland, AL 36345.
Mrs. Arnold was born and reared in the Concord Community of Henry County, daughter of the late Marvin Peterson and Lalor Bell Peterson. She was a 1950 graduate of Newville High School. In earlier years, Mrs. Arnold was employed as a Secretary with Halsted & Whiddon Attorneys at Law in Headland. She later retired as a Secretary from the Alabama Cooperative Extension System at Auburn University. Mrs. Arnold was a member of the Blackwoods Community Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Mack Arnold, two sisters, Inez and Pauline, and her great-grandson, Jensen Lee Brown.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Alicia Capan Fisher, Phenix City; two sons, Timothy Keith Capan (Jana), Columbus, GA; and Robert Keith Arnold (Katrina), Nashville, TN; two grandchildren, Kimberly D. Perez (Alvero) and Alexa Nicole Brown (Aaron); seven great-grandchildren, Brandon Chance Garbin (Samantha), Justin Keith Garbin, Trevor Ray Nichols, Tucker Riley Nichols, Ana-Sophia April Perez, Grayson Maddox Capan and Korbyn Harlow Rickerson; several nieces & nephews.
