Mrs. Mary Ruth Burris Champion died Monday, April 16, 2012 at Washington County Nursing and Rehab in Chipley Florida. She was 87 years old.
Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Champion will be 2:30 P.M. Friday, April 20, 2012 from the Covenant Chapel with the Reverend Troy West officiating. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Covenant Funeral Services. Visitation will be Friday, April 20, 2012 from 1 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to one's favorite charity.
Mrs. Champion was born June 3, 1924 in Macon Georgia, the daughter of the late Jerry Burris and Ruby Alice Grant. She moved to Dothan in 1985. She spent her life as a loving mother and wife.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Daniel Champion, son, Charles Lawrence Champion and a brother, J.A. Burris.
Mrs. Champion leaves behind to cherish her memories, son, Danny Champion and his wife Sheila of Dothan, daughter, Peggy Long of Warner Robbins, Georgia, grandchildren, Jeff Champion and his wife Belinda of Rehobeth, Jason Champion and his wife Tanya of Rehobeth, Tammy Shouse and her husband Steve of Macon, Georgia, Tara Cumbie of Macon, Georgia, great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Kayla, Linsay, Joshua Champion, Brennen and Blake Shouse, Parker, Andrew and Madison Cumbie.
Pallbearers will be, Jeff Champion, Jason Champion, Steve Shouse, Billy Long and Fred Thompson.
