MIDLAND CITY… Mary Strawder-Hall Windham, a resident of Dale County, between Headland and the Echo Community, died early Sunday morning, December 3, 2023,  at her home. She was 78.

            Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Joe Murkerson and Reverend Stephen Windham officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory, near Headland. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Headland.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Alabama Free Will Baptist Children’s Home, PO Box 8, Eldridge, AL 35554.

            Mary Windham was born and reared in Midland City, daughter of the late George Broward Hall and Inez Strawder-Hall. She moved to the Cedar Bridge community in Dale County in 1971. Mary was a member of the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church. She was retired from South Dale Junior High in Pinckard as a Child Nutritionist. In earlier years, she was employed by Wex-Tex Mfg. Company in Headland. Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Box and Betty Stafford.

            Surviving relatives include her husband, Harvey Windham, a daughter, Wendy Shuemake (Samuel), Dothan; two sons, Reverend Stephen Windham (Melanie), Elkmont, AL and Hank Windham (Amy), Rome, GA; three sisters, Evelyn Craven, Hephzibah, GA, Edna Courson (John), Opp, AL, and Peggie Strawder, Newton, AL; five grandchildren, Brian Shuemake (Abby), Sierra Hinton (Payton), Autumn Windham, Elijah Windham and Daisy Windham; a special brother in law and sisters-in-law from the Windham family, Bascom Windham and his wife, Pat, and Lenora Windham Turner; several nieces and nephews.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Gene Turner, Randy Windham, Bascom Windham, Samuel Shuemake, Brian Shuemake and Elijah Windham.
