Mary Sue Smith, 61, of Newton passed away Friday, July 6, 2012 at her residence.


Graveside services will be held 3pm Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Newton City Cemetery with Rev. Scott Terrell officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Saturday at the funeral home.


Ms. Smith was born June 30, 1951 in Dale County and lived the early part of her life in Newton. She was a 1969 graduate of Dale County High School and received her Business Degree from the College of Hampton Roads in Hampton, VA. She was employed with civil service for several years and at the time of her retirement in 2006 she was working with the Aviation Technical Test Activity of Ft. Rucker. Sue was preceded in death by her mother Mary Lou Holton.


Survivors include her sons, Michael (Elsa) Vick of Ft. Bragg, NC, and Randall Vick of Newton; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; her father Lunnie Holton of Newton; a brother Wayne (Diane) Holton of Newton; her sisters, Patricia York of Newton, Barbara Glover of Newton, Lanelle (Fred) Davis of Midland City, and Donna (Kevin) Browning of Concrete, WA; several nieces and nephews also survive.
