MIDLAND CITY….Mary Whaley Andrews, a resident of Midland City, died Sunday morning, December 21, 2014, in a Dothan hospital. She was 80.
Funeral services will be 6:00 P.M. Monday, December 22, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Robert Marley and Reverend Benny Cole officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 23, 2014, in the Durden Cemetery, near Prattville. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 6:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Attn: Katie Rotton, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36111.
Mrs. Andrews was born in Montgomery and reared in Prattville, Alabama.
She lived in Opelika before moving to Midland City in 1996. Mrs. Andrews was retired from Leshner Mills in Opelika and is currently employed by the City of Midland City. She was a member of the Ozark Church of the Nazarene and attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church near Midland City. Mrs Andrews was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Whaley and Ruby Turner Whaley, her husband, Cephus Eugene Andrews, a daughter, Lyndia Dixon Jerkins, a son-in-law, Thomas E. Dixon,and a brother, Paul Whaley.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Eldra Chappell Andrews (James), Opelika and Kim Andrews Bowen (David), Salem, AL; a sister, Annie Joe Dennis, Prattville; seven grandchildren, Tommy Dixon, Jeff Dixon (Amy), Andy Dixon, Susanne McCoy (Wesley), Matthew Lawler (Whitney), Brandon Bowen (Lauren), and Bradley Bowen; ten great-grandchildren.
