Mrs. Mattie E. Turner, 82, of Dothan, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at her residence.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2018 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Stanley Glover officiating. Burial will follow in Gates of Heaven Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 on Thursday. Flowers are being accepted.
Mrs. Turner was born November 1, 1935 in Headland, Alabama to the late Walter and Susie McNealy. She lived most all of her life in Dothan. On October 4, 1974 she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended the East Congregation.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mason Turner Jr., three sisters, Robbie Sue McNealy, Ethel “Tiny” McNealy and Dorothy McNealy and one brother, Buris McNealy.
Survivors include 7 children, Rose Floyd of Dothan, Walter Mason Turner of Dothan, Marie Mathis (Lawrence) of Dothan, Kenneth Turner (Deloris) of Dothan, Quince Turner (Lisa) of Tampa, FL, Larry Turner of Dothan and Linda Turner Pierce (Anthony) of Dothan; 20 grandchildren, Phyllis LaShay Turner, Lawrence Mathis (Tammy), Nehemiah Mathis (Hannah), Dominic Stringer, Keith Turner, Kenney Turner, Olivia Jackson, Steven Smith, Allen Jackson, Natashia Whiting (Carl) Krystal Turner, Deon Turner, Sarena Turner, Eric LaRue, Isaiah Turner, Mason Turner (Destiny), Sa’Ishia Mills, LaPortia Pierce, A-shaya Pierce and Anthony Pierce, Jr.; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mary Helen Walker of Buffalo, NY and Sharon West (Irvin) of Dothan; 3 brothers, Buford McNealy (Viretta) of Dothan, Walter Joe McNealy (Mary Nell) of Dothan and Ernest McNealy of Atlanta, GA; a very special aunt, Lucille Spurling of Headland; a very special uncle, E. C. Jackson of Columbus, GA; sisters-in-law, Margaret Murphy of Chicago, IL, Rachel Vial of CT, Ossie Pegarrio of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lena Jones (Albert) of Chicago, IL; brothers-in-law, Wes Bonds of Ashford and Edward Turner of Dothan; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers are: Anthony Pierce, Jr., Deon Turner, Isaiah Turner, Mason Turner, Lawrence Mathis and Nehemiah Mathis.
