OZARK…. Mrs. Mattie Edgar Nance, a resident of Ozark (formerly of Ariton), passed away early Sunday afternoon, May 12, 2019 in an Ozark nursing home. She was 94.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in the Holmes Baptist Church in Ariton with her grandson, Reverend Blake Nance officiating. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Nance was the daughter of the late Oscar and Eula Edgar. Mrs. Nance was a long-time resident of Ariton, Alabama. She was a homemaker and stay at home mother to her 4 children for most of her adult life. Later she was employed with Bargain Town USA. She also served as a Foster Grandparent in the Ozark Headstart Program. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nance was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Tolliver Nance. Her grandson, Christopher Nance; brothers, Albert Edgar and Oyer Phillps and one sister, Gladys Phillips Mills also preceded her in death.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Patsy Marsh (Robert), Ariton, Al; three sons, Edward Nance (Rena), Ozark, Al; Ricky Nance (Dee), McCalla, Al; Rusty Nance (Renae), Ozark, Al. eleven grandchildren; Chris Marsh (Wendy), Craig Stafford (Becky), Angie Folkes (Chris), Amy Lloyd (Steve), Faith Carter (Raymond), Amber Nance, Wes Nance (Beverly), Leah Nance, Derrick Nance (Brittany), Blake Nance (Kassie), Brittany Cedeno (Nathan); twenty one great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Edgar Cardwell and Lilla Edgar Cotter; her brother, Jerry Edgar; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
