Mavis Dilene Calhoun

Mavis Dilene Calhoun passed away Monday, January 27, 2014, at the age of 48.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Taylor Assembly of God Church  with Rev. Eddie Littlefield and Rev. Stacy Turney officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

The family suggests contributions be made to SAMC Foundation-Champions of Hope, Attn: Meghan Woodham, 1922 Fairview Ave., Dothan, AL 36301, or Alacare Hospice, 3379 W. Main St., Dothan, AL 36305.

Ms. Calhoun was born December 31, 1965 in Dothan and lived all her life in the Rehobeth Community. She owned and operated Dilene’s Advance Hair Design for 29 years. She enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. She sang in the choir at Harvest Church and First Assembly of God. At the time of her death she attended The Church at The Crossing in Dothan.

She was predeceased by her father, John Glyn Calhoun and her brother, Gene Calhoun.

Survivors include her mother, Mavis Calhoun of Dothan; her brothers, Marty Calhoun (Twila) of Dothan, and Ray Calhoun (Patricia) of Centreville; her sister-in-law, Lavanda Calhoun of Dothan; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their thanks to Alacare Hospice, First Light, and especially to her sitters, E.J. and Victoria.
