Max W. Wright, 88, of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2015, in Pensacola, Florida.


Max was born November 8, 1926, in Georgiana, Alabama to Tom and Julia Wright. He joined the Navy at the age of sixteen and served in World War II. He was discharged from the Navy after receiving a Purple Heart. Max returned home and attended Auburn University. He married Jeanne Brantley and settled in Headland, Alabama. Max was a member of the Headland United Methodist Church, the Alabama and Florida Homeowners Association, and The Purple Heart Veterans Association. Preceding him in death was his wife, Jeanne and his daughter, Beth Wright Jerkins.


            Survivors include his daughters, Julia (Donnie) Peterson, and Teri (Keith) Griffin, his son-in-law, David Jerkins, eight grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Jeanne, Whitney, Lizlee, Josh, Whit, and Will; nine great-grandchildren, and numerous friends. Max was very loved and always had a smile and quick wit to all his family and friends. He was a true treasure and will be missed by all who knew him!


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 7, 2015, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel, Headland, Alabama. Visitation will be held one hour prior and burial will be at the Headland Baptist Cemetery.
