A celebration of his life will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Carroll and Rev. Josh Alderman officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7 pm. Maxwell A. Anderson, a lifelong resident of Ashford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at his residence. He was 86 years old.

Max was born on December 29, 1935 in Houston County and lived in Ashford for most of his life. He was a 1955 graduate of Ashford High School. Max served two years in the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. He would move to Ashford in 1965 and worked with Dothan Tractor and later with Wade Hammond John Deere Tractor Company where he worked in the parts department for more than 35 years. He enjoyed being outside and liked hunting in his earlier years. Max served as Deacon for 44 years at First Freewill Baptist Church.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Addie Anderson, his wife, Mada Anderson, and by his brother, Bruce Anderson.
Survivors include his son, Joe (Teresa) Anderson; his daughters, Dawn (Dennis) Cobb and Angie McCardle; his seven grandchildren, Aaron (Joanna) Cobb, Karl (Jessica) Pollack, Bethany Cobb, Luke (Jennifer) McCardle, Jacob McCardle, Jessica (Joel) Presley and Amanda Bryant; and his two great grandchildren, Logan McCardle and Bryant Presley; and several nieces and nephews.
