MSgt Medric Allen Blair, USMC Ret., 84, a resident of Webb, AL passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2015 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in Gardens of Memory with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Blair was born June 21, 1930 in Robertsdale, AL and spent the early part of his life there. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War having served his country in the United States Marine Corps for over 30 years. Following his retirement from the military in 1975 he moved to the Dothan area where he worked as a security guard. He also loved to fish and hunt in his spare time. Mr. Blair was a member of the Marine Corps League, the Order of the Purple Heart, and a proud Lifetime Member of the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by his sons, Billy and Kenneth Blair and a grandson, Chris Blair.
Survivors include his wife Virginia Blair; sons, Anthony Allen (Anita) Blair and Gregory (Rileen) Blair; a daughter, Debra (Frank) Lawson; grandchildren, Misty Blair, Makesha Nowell, Josh Lawson, Amber Carpenter, Dustin Blair, Tori Blair, and Dylan Blair; great-grandchildren, Michael Blair, Caden Blair, Reagan Nowell, Annaleigh Wells, Jace Lawson, Harrison Carpenter, Ava Rae Blair, and Camille Carpenter; 3 brothers and 6 sisters; numerous nieces and nephews.
