Melba Abercrombie Jackson, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022 at her family home in Dothan, Alabama. She was 94 years old.


A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 2:00 pm in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Joe Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Arthritis Foundation.


Mrs. Jackson was born on July 2, 1927 in Coffee Springs, Alabama to Charles and Mattie Mae Chancy Abercrombie. On December 26, 1950, she would marry John Owens Jackson, Sr. and together they would have two sons, John Owens Jackson, Jr. and James Michael Jackson. Mrs. Jackson would attend nursing school at Clarity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. In addition to being a wonderful mother and housewife, Mrs. Jackson worked as an office nurse and a private duty nurse in Dothan. She was a longtime member of Evergreen Presbyterian Church of Dothan.


Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 1999, John Owens Jackson, Sr., and her siblings, Sue Abercrombie Sconyers, Francis Albritton, Hazel Ellison, Jo Ann Wade, and Ray Abercrombie;


Mrs. Jackson leaves to cherish her memories, her sons, John Owens (Pam) Jackson of Paris, TN and James Michael Jackson of Dothan; her grandchildren, Rebecca Leigh Jackson of Nashville, TN, Stephanie Jackson (Chris) Poen of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Emma Grace Jackson of Oceanside, CA; her two great grandchildren, William Alexander Poen and Benjamin Christopher Poen; and a host of nieces and nephews.


The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice and Wiregrass HomeCare for their love and support shown to us during our time of need. Church.
