Melba Louise Pullen, a resident of Hartford passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Hartford Healthcare. She was 83.


Funeral services will be on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 2 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Earl Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 pm on Sunday.


Mrs. Pullen was born on August 6, 1934 in Houston County and lived here most of her life. She was the best mother and wife who loved taking care of her family. Mrs. Pullen also enjoyed gardening and was known for having a green thumb.


She was preceded in death by her husband, John Buckner Pullen and son-in-law, Robert Smith.


Survivors include her children, John B. (Jennifer Kay) Pullen, II, Deborah Pullen Smith and Diane (Terry) Maxey; grandchildren, Dakota Pullen, Sierra Pullen, Brandon (Tiffanie) Smith and Matthew (Trisha) Smith; a great-grandchild, Scarlett Smith; brothers, Eugene (Gwen) Cobb and Joe Cobb; sisters-in-law, Linda Cobb and Marilyn Cobb; and several nieces and nephews.
