Mercer Fleming, of Enterprise, passed away Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Enterprise Health & Rehab Center due to illnesses from Alzheimers with his loving wife of 66 years by his side. He was 88.
A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2018 at Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain (CPT) Younsoo Park and Chaplain (CPT-P) Michael J. O’Rourke officiating. Family will receive friends beginning at 3:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.
Mercer was born February 9, 1930, in Enterprise, AL. He was in the Air Force for 25 years where he served in Vietnam. He was a member of Fort Rucker Main Post Chapel, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Fleming and Loni Martin Fleming; two sisters, Ann Schroeder and Jean Patrick.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta (Bobbi) Fleming of Enterprise; three daughters: Jacquie Reed (Ralph) of Daleville, AL, Jan Gandy (Paul) of Salt Lake City, UT and Jeanne McNamara (Bob) of Littleton, CO; two brothers: Richard Fleming or Enterprise and Sam Fleming of Crossville, TN; six grandchildren: Michelle McNamara, Kyle McNamara, Kelly McNamara, Chase McNamara, Victoria Felt and Matt Gandy; one great grandchild, Landon McNamara; and numerous nieces and nephews.
