CUMMING, GEORGIA. . .Merilyn Pierce Watson, a resident of Cumming, Georgia, died peacefully in her sleep late Tuesday night, November 30, 2021. She was 81.


   Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, December 5, 2021, in the Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery, between Headland & Columbia, Alabama, with Reverend George Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations, Headland, Alabama, is in charge of arrangements.


   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hebron Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o Edwin Glover, 6952 State Highway 134, East, Columbia, AL 36319.


   Mrs. Watson was born in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada.  She formerly lived in Northport, Washington, Spokane, Washington, San Antonio, Texas, Orlando, Florida and Mead, Washington before moving to Cumming, Georgia in 2020. Mrs. Watson attended the First Covenant Church in Spokane, Washington. She was formerly employed by the Orlando Public School System at Michael McCoy Elementary School as a teacher’s aide. Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Dale Pierce and Sarah Sultvedt Pierce, and her husband, Jerry McArthur Watson.


   Surviving relatives include her daughter, Janice Watson Smith (Pete), Lake Hartwell, Georgia; a sister, Lynda Denison (Don), Spokane, WA; a brother, Lydel Pierce, Mead, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
