Method Coe Holmes was a lifelong resident of Geneva County Alabama. She was affectionately called Mets by her family and friends and her grandchildren called her Mama Mets. She was the first of her family to attend college after high school graduation. She went to University of Montevallo in Montevallo, AL and graduated with a BS Degree in Family and Consumer Science. After graduation, she worked as the Home Economist for Geneva, County. She met and married her husband, T.G. Holmes IV (Tiny) and they had 2 children. Later, she earned her Masters of Education Degree through Auburn University. She taught high school Home Economics for many years at Samson High School and then was a School Social Worker for several years in the Enterprise School System.

Method loved her family, her work as an educator and homemaker, and her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. She took early retirement from the school system to attend to her husband during his health crisis which ultimately took his life in 1979. After the loss of her husband, she managed their family farm, was active in her church and other retired teacher organizations, as well as visiting with her grown children and their families. One of her life goals was to further her education by traveling to interesting places around the world. She ultimately became a world traveler and visited most of the United States and in most of the continents of the world.

Mama Mets was beloved by her family and friends. During the last decade of her life she dealt with blindness and hearing impairment, but she still lived alone and took care of herself with assistance from family and special friends. She was interesting, smart, positive, and a hardworking woman who lived a very full life until the age of 102. She left a lasting legacy to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Samson First Methodist Church, 204 W. Main St., Samson, AL 36477.
