ASHFORD. . .Michael Carl “Mike” Cherry, a resident of Ashford, died late Tuesday night, September 14, 2021, in a Dothan hospital. He was 54.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 18, 2021, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Carl Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, near Pansey. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland. Social distancing guidelines and masks will be observed.
Mike Cherry was born and reared in Headland, son of the late Lorell Cherry and Dorothy Mae Singletary Cherry. He lived most of his adult lifetime in Ashford. Mike was self employed as a contractor in mobile home repair. In earlier years, he was employed as a carpenter in residential construction. Mike was preceded in death by three brothers, Carey Cherry, James Cherry and Barney Cherry.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Amanda Lee Fenn, Ashford; three daughters, Callie Odom (Dustin), Columbia; Kala Carr (Shawn) and Tara Britto (Josh), all of Dothan; five sons, John Buie (Nichole), Destin, FL; Herndon Buie (Tonya), Webb; Ryan Cherry (Courtney), Ashford; Ethan Perdue (Brittney), Alaska; and Tommy Knight (Ashleigh), Navarre Beach, FL; two brothers, Rick Cherry (Regenia), Greenwood, FL; and Alan Cherry (Terri), Hartford; twenty-seven grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Traci Bryan (Keith), Eufaula; a mother-in-law, Jane Fenn, Louisville, AL; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Wallace Crawford, Freddie Bacher, Marc Edmonson, Timothy Whitehead, Berry Wardlaw, Ray Arnold and Jason Hall.
