Michael Earl Richards, known affectionately as Mike, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2023, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on November 15, 1945, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Michael lived a life full of love, kindness, and service.
Mike was a loving husband to his wife of 26 years, Therese Richards. He was a devoted father to his children, Lisa Martone (Salvator), John Kopacz (Melanie), and Brandi Gallutia (Brian). He was also a doting grandfather to Gina, Salvator III, Anthony, Gwen, Zander, and Braden. Mike was a cherished brother to James Richards (Linda) and Thomas Richards. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Jane Richards, and his brothers, Arthur, Robert, and Howard Richards.
Mike was a proud Army veteran who served his country with honor and distinction in Vietnam. After his military service, he worked tirelessly as a construction worker, demonstrating his handy nature and strong work ethic. His dedication to his work was only surpassed by his love for his family and his passion for bass fishing.
In his later years, Mike combined his love for the outdoors and his extensive knowledge of bass fishing to become a guide on Okeechobee Lake. He was an avid bass fisherman, and his enthusiasm for the sport was infectious. He loved sharing his passion with others, teaching them the ins and outs of the sport, and helping them experience the joy of a successful catch.
Mike was a man of many talents, but his greatest gift was his ability to love and care for those around him. He was a kind and loving man, always ready with a helping hand or a comforting word.
