It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Anthony Jerkins, beloved husband, father, son, brother, a 2000 graduate from New Brockton High School, avid coach, and friend, who left us on October 20, 2024, at the age of 42.

Born on July 11, 1982, to the late Anthony Jerkins and Jennie Jerkins Wambles, Michael grew up with a passion for sports and a dedication to his family. He married the love of his life, Angie Jerkins, on April 13, 2002, and together they built a warm and loving home filled with laughter and cherished memories.

As a devoted father, Michael’s greatest joy came from his children, whom he inspired with his unwavering support and encouragement. He was a passionate coach, dedicating his time and energy to nurturing young athletes, instilling in them the values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship.

Michael was not just a coach but a mentor and a friend to many, always willing to lend an ear or share a laugh. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Angie; his children, Mckenlie Alyse Jerkins (Bryce Smith), Madilynn Aubree Jerkins, and Michael Anthony Jerkins. Jr.; his mother, Jennie Jerkins Wambles (Dad - Ervin); his sister, Dawn Ezzell (Chase); mother-in-law, Sharon Bryant; father-in-law, Ronnie Munson; sisters-in-law, Madessa Bryant and Nicole Byrant; and brother-in-law, Stephen Munson; many nieces, a nephew, aunts, uncles, and cousins, a special cousin by marriage but more like a brother, Jason Richards; and a chosen brother, Pate Harrison.

A celebration of Michael’s life will be held Saturday, October 24th, 2024, at 11:00 am at Wooten Chapel Assembly of God Church, 2988 County Road 514, Elba, Alabama, where friends and family can gather to honor his memory and share stories of the impact he made in their lives. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 am and continuing until service time. Pastor Mike Medley will be officiating the service, and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise will be directing. Burial will follow at McGee Cemetery located at County Road 246, New Brockton, Alabama.

Pallbearers include Pate Harrison, Andrae Medley, Maurice Jones, Josh Lewis, Kellen Cole, Will Pouncey, Don Moore, and Benjamin Pritchett.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Michael Jerkins’ Fund that will be utilized to assist athletes that he took pride in helping, and future athletes, as this was his passion in life.

Michael Anthony Jerkins will forever be remembered for his love, laughter, and the legacy he leaves behind.
