DOTHAN. . .Michael Joe Whaley, Sr., a resident of Dothan, died Sunday morning, December 10, 2017. He was 47.


            Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 13, 2017, in the Holman Headland Mortuary with Reverend Randy Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary in Headland.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1449 Medical Park Drive, Birmingham, AL 35213.


            Michael Whaley was a native of Dothan where he lived most of his lifetime. He was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Le Cordon Bleu, a culinary arts school in Orlando, Florida where he was also a member of the Hospitality Honor Society of Eta Sigma Delta. He was employed by The Cellar in Dothan.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Toni J. Whaley; a daughter, Lorie Ann Proctor (Jeffery), Midland City; a son, Michael Whaley, Jr. (Jessica), Taylor, AL; three step-children, Elizabeth Mayes Futch (Kevin), Dothan; William Mayes (Traci), Jacksonville, FL; and Lane Mayes, Dothan; his mother, Barbara Corbin, Midland City; a sister, Dana Simmons, Midland City; two brothers, Willie Chandler (Tonya) and Bobby Chandler, all of Midland City; four grandchildren, Bryson Whaley, Harper Whaley, Summer Edwards and Chase Cureton; three step-grandchildren, Raelyn Futch, Colton Mayes and Kaylee Mayes.
