HEADLAND. . .Michael Len “Mike” Carpenter, a resident of Headland, died early Friday morning, December 1, 2023, in Arvin, California, near Bakersfield. He was 52.

            Memorial services will be held at a later date in the New Beginning Church in Ashford. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

            Mike Carpenter was a native of Haleburg in Henry County and lived in the Tumbleton Community for the past twenty-two years. He was self employed as a Diesel Truck Mechanic for several trucking companies in the wiregrass area. Mike was also affectionately known as “Pork Chop”. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis June Mock Carpenter and his step-mother, Charlotte Carpenter.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Debra Ferguson Carpenter, daughters, Krystal Carpenter, Kinsey; and Terri Shelby, Savannah, TN; sons, Will Carpenter and Kevin Carpenter, both of Headland; and Kayne Carpenter, Tallahassee, FL; his father and step-mother, Curtis and Phyllis Carpenter, Headland; brothers, Leon Carpenter (Nicole), Blakely, GA; and Lee Carpenter (Dina), Columbia, AL; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
