HEADLAND. . .Michael Len “Mike” Carpenter, a resident of Headland, died suddenly and peacefully in the arms of a special friend that loved him, Friday morning, December 1, 2023, in Arvin, California, near Bakersfield. He was 52.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 16, 2023, in the New Beginning Church in Ashford with Reverend Logan Johnson and Reverend Larry Elliott officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday in the church sanctuary.
Michael Carpenter was a native of Haleburg in Henry County and lived in the Tumbleton Community for the past twenty-two years. As a young boy, Michael was introduced to horses and team roping. It was a hobby he was passionate for and was able to pass along to his children. Michael was a devoted family man. He was always full of life and his smile lit up any room he entered. Michael was self-employed as a Diesel Truck Mechanic for several trucking companies in the wiregrass area. Mike was also affectionately known as “Pork Chop”. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis June Mock Carpenter, his step-mother, Charlotte Carpenter, his maternal grandparents, Broughton and Mary Mock and his paternal grandparents, Hill and Evelyn Carpenter.
To remember and honor his legacy, he leaves behind: his sons, Kayne Carpenter, William Carpenter and Kevin Carpenter, all of Headland; his daughter and with whom he shared a special bond, Krystal Nichole Carpenter, Kinsey; his grandsons of whom he was truly proud of, Colton “Blake” Cook and Joseph “Blayne” Nowell, Colton Hooks and Hunter White; the woman with whom he raised his family with and faithfully loved him for over thirty years, Debbie Carpenter, Headland; his father, Curtis Carpenter (Phyllis), Headland; his brother, Lee Carpenter (Dina), Haleburg; his brother, Leon Carpenter (Nicole), Blakely, Ga; a special aunt, Joyce Williams, Headland; another aunt, Dena Spurlin (Jesse), Apopka, FL; several beloved nieces and nephews; a special friend, Carla Hatcher, Webb, AL; and a host of friends that loved him.
