COWARTS…Michael Paul Watford, a resident of Cowarts, died early Tuesday afternoon, June 23, 2015, at his home. He was 60.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 26, 2015, in the Grandview Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Grimes officiating and eulogy to be given by David Caraway. Burial will follow in the Memory Hill Cemetery, Hartford Highway, Dothan. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday in the sanctuary of the Grandview Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grandview Baptist Church Building Fund, 2400 Forrester Road, Dothan, Alabama 36301.
Michael Watford was a native of Dothan and moved to Cowarts with his family as a teenager. He was the son of the late Henry Steadman Watford and Willie Belle Devane Watford. Michael lived in Cowarts most of his adult lifetime and was self-employed as a carpenter in the operation of Ole Southern Remodeling & Trim. Michael was an active member of the Grandview Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Nina Shipes Parris.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Linda Parris Watford; a daughter, Miranda Watford Brannon (Joseph), Dothan; a son, Nicholas Watford (Kellie), Ashford; a sister, Marie Walding (Jimmy), Dothan; and a brother, Rickey Watford, Dothan; three grandchildren, Emma Brannon, Jacob Brannon and Amelia Watford; his father-in-law, Bill Parris (Edna), Pinckard; brothers-in-law, Mike Parris (Delane), Birmingham; Bobby Parris, Baton Rouge, LA; and Danny Parris (Pam), Dothan; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Graham Lee, Randall Scott Lee, Bob Negley, James Blissett, Jimmy Blissett, Kenny Davis and Don Canady.
