Michael Ray Whatley of Chancellor, Alabama passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013.  He was 61.


Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 2, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Don Tew officiating.  Burial will follow in the Meadowlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Enterprise with military honors and Masonic rites. Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva will be directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, June 1, from 6 until 8 p.m.


Michael was born July 29, 1951 in Hartford, Alabama.  He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and uncle.  His family was most important to him.  He especially loved his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He also enjoyed his dogs and fishing.


His father Coleman Ray Whatley preceded him in death.


Survivors include his wife, Debra Conner Whatley, Chancellor; one son, Cole Whatley, Coffee Springs; one daughter, Lindsy Motley (John), Columbus, MS; mother, Orine Anderson Whatley, Chancellor; step son, John Robert Brabham (Paula), Rehobeth; one sister, Becky Motley (Bruce), Enterprise; two brothers: Wyman Whatley (Joan), Coffee Springs and Gary Whatley (Deborah), Grand Ridge, FL; six grandchildren: Caroline, John Edward, Meagan, Morgan, Cassidy and Dallas; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
