Michael Thomas Hinshaw, a beacon of strength and generosity, passed away on August 27, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 66. Born on November 19, 1957, in Illinois, Michael was a man who lived a life marked by dedication, service, and an unwavering commitment to his values.
Michael, affectionately known by all as just "Michael," was a true embodiment of the American spirit. His formative years were spent in the close-knit community of Midland City, Alabama where he truly laid down his roots. A proud graduate of Dale County High School, Michael's thirst for knowledge and desire to excel led him to Troy University, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in Business Administration and Accounting.
His academic achievements were just the beginning of a life characterized by service and leadership. Michael answered the call of duty and served his country with honor as a member of the United States Army, notably within the esteemed ranks of the 82nd Airborne Division. His bravery and commitment to his nation were reflections of his strong character.
Upon returning to civilian life, Michael continued to lead by example. His professional life was marked by the same integrity and dedication he displayed in uniform. He was a man who built relationships on the foundation of trust, and his word was as steadfast as the principles he lived by.
Michael's deep faith was a guiding force in his life and growing up into adulthood, he was an active and cherished member of the Midland City Methodist Church. His involvement in the church was not just a reflection of his faith but also of his unwavering dedication to his community.
Those who knew Michael were touched by his selflessness and generosity. He was the kind of person who would give you his last dollar if he believed it would help. His kindness was matched only by his strength and independence. He was a hardworking man who never shied away from a challenge and approached every obstacle with unwavering determination.
A man of many talents, Michael was also an exceptional cook, known for his great Southern cooking that would bring comfort and joy to any table. His culinary skills were just one of the many ways he expressed his love and care for those around him.
Michael's legacy is carried forward by his close friend, Vickie Alleman, who stood by his side as a partner and confidant. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect.
