A celebration of her life will be held 2 pm Friday at Vaughn Towers, 342 S. St. Andrew's Street, Dothan, AL 36301.
Mildred Kirkland, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Dothan, Alabama, on November 19, 2023. She was born on June 17, 1947 in Bessemer, AL to Cecil Bice and Sarah Ritch.
Mildred was a beacon of strength and resilience, having worked at Dairy Queen for over 30 years. Her hard work and dedication were a testament to her character. Mildred was also a devoted member of the Cloverdale Baptist Church in Dothan, where she found solace and strength in her faith.
Known for her love of games, Mildred was a regular at the Bingo halls in Graceville. She also had a passion for playing online games on her laptop, a hobby that brought her much joy and entertainment. Despite her introverted nature, Mildred had a knack for connecting with people through these shared interests.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Judy Romine (Bristol), her grandchildren, Seth Kirkland Green (Mechelle), Jayme Glass (Jordan), and Kayce Chandler. She was also the proud great-grandmother to Carli Glass, Matthew Tice, Cohen Green, Bryanna Glass, Emmalynn Green, Isabella Green, and Bailee Chaney. Her sisters, Cathy Speakman and Tina Cutts (Tommy), along with several nieces and nephews, will remember her fondly.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Kirkland, her parents, Cecil Bice and Sarah Ritch, her brothers, Paul Murphy, Jimmy Bice, Mike Bice, and a special friend, Janie Hall. Each of these individuals held a special place in Mildred's heart, and she carried their memories with her throughout her life.
