Mildred Nadine Watson Yon, a resident of Ozark, passed away on January 28, 2024 at the Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 92.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Doug Seale officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mildred was born on August 27, 1931, in Geneva County, AL. She was a woman whose hands created magic in the kitchen, baking cakes that brought joy to many tables. Her love for social gatherings echoed the kindred spirit of her generous heart, she was a member of the Taylor Assembly of God Church and always loved being with her family, where there was always laughter and good food.
Mildred was predeceased by her parents, Charlie Elton Watson and Annie Ethel Skinner Watson. A son, Roger Kenneth Yon; daughters, Lisa Belinda Hurley and Lori Lynn Robbins; and their father, James D. Yon.
She is survived by her son, James S. Yon, of Dothan, AL; grandsons, Steven A. Yon (Raquel) Skipperville, AL, David C. Yon (Anna) Ghlin, Belgium, Caleb L. McNeal (Stacie) Jacksonville, FL, Justin Wyatt McArdle, William Mason Phelps, and Evan Hurley; granddaughter, Christa M. Guin (Tony) Murfreesboro, TN. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mildred's life was a testament to love, compassion, and the joy of giving. As we bid her farewell, we are reminded of the light she shone in the lives of all who knew her.
