Mildred Watford Smith of Coffee Springs, AL passed away Saturday, January 14,2023. she was 96.


 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2023, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Minister Doug Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in the Eden Baptist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continue until service time.


 Mrs. Smith was born on February 7, 1926 in Geneva County, AL to the late Angus A. and Johnnie Hinson Lyster Watford.  She worked with the Geneva County Board of Education and retired with more than 37 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the College Avenue Church of Christ.


 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eugene “Gene” Smith.


 Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Miriam S. Dyer and Aaron of Atlanta, Ga; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald E. and Margaret Smith of Dothan, AL; her grandchildren, Elise (Derek) Sanderson, Doug (Jessica) Smith, and Bart (Kelly) Dyer; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.


 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, Wiregrass Christian Youth Camp, P.O. Box 311072, Enterprise, AL 36331, or the charity of your choice.   


 A special thank you to Gentiva Hospice and sitter Jean McKee for their loving care to Mildred.
