Minnie Jacqueline Watford ( Jackie), age 77 of Dothan, AL, died peacefully at her home with the family by her side on Friday, December 30, 2011, after a long illness.


 


Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 2 P. M. from the chapel of Ward Wilson Funeral Home, with Reverends Orin Barrett and Tim Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home Directing.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel from 1 until 2 P. M. 1 hour prior to the service.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant hospice, 104 Rockridge Rd. Dothan, AL 36303  or Ridgecrest Baptist Church building fund.


 


Jackie was born and raised in the Pleasant Plains Community between Headland and Columbia. In the earlier years of her life, Jackie worked at Bishop Cleaners and later went to work at Montgomery Ward  in Dothan, where she worked in the appliance department. Jackie enjoyed talking and meeting people and these attributes allowed her to become one of the top salespersons. She won many awards and trophies during her 30 years of service before retiring. Jackie was commonly referred to as the lady with black hair working in the appliance department. Jackie was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.


 


She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Harvey and Lillie Whatley, a brother , Harvey ( Preacher) Whatley, two sisters, Christine Kirby and Becky Whatley. A son, Lamar Watford and a granddaughter Judy Cureton and her unborn baby.


Jackie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Albert Watford of Dothan; A Son, Danny Watford and wife Lora, of  Ft. Walton Beach, FL; A daughter , Sharon Cureton and husband Waymon, of Cottonwood; Two brothers, James Whatley and wife Jean of Dothan and Jerry Whatley and wife Kitty of  Molino, FL; Two sisters, Mary Vardamaskos and husband John of Dothan and Margaret Howard and husband Billy of Ashford, AL.


Two Grandsons, Steve Watford and wife Renae of Navarre, FL and Chris Cureton of Cottonwood, AL. One granddaughter, Jennifer Watford Jackson of Pensacola, FL. Four great Grandchildren, Christian and Olivia Cureton of Rehobeth and Eli and Esra as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
