We are profoundly saddened to announce the passing of Miriam, our loving and devoted wife and mother on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. She was a treasured sister and the dearest, warmest friend. All those who know her will deeply miss Miriam and be grateful she touched their lives.
Miriam was born to the late James and Elizabeth Murray in 1961. She and her five siblings grew up in and near Ozark, AL. After high school and several years of work, she would meet her husband, who survives. Miriam and Ted Painton met on base at Ft. Rucker, Daleville AL and he became her devoted husband April 5, 1986. They made their home in Enterprise, AL after ten years in the United States Army and some time in Nashville, TN. Ted remains in Enterprise as does an important four legged family member, “Sadie”. She came into their lives at a difficult time and continues to provide much needed comfort and companionship.
Miriam worked so many different jobs, starting at an early age. She landed in the field of occupational therapy and used her talent to help patients of all ages in a variety of settings. Miriam continued working even as her own illness made doing so extremely difficult. She never knew the meaning of the word “quit.”
Miriam’s mission in life was to be an amazing mother to her sons; Ryan and Andrew Painton. She adored them, loved them and instilled in them strong values that will serve them well all their lives. She will be dearly missed and forever in the boys’ hearts.
In addition to her husband and sons, Miriam is survived by a brother and a sister; Mark Murray and Laura Stagliano. There are also many nieces, nephews and other extended family who survive. Miriam is also survived by several family members in Southeast Missouri who have cherished her since she first came into their lives. She will remain in our memory and our hearts with the great appreciation.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00PM, Friday, September 30, 2022 at First United Methodist Church of Enterprise . Burial and graveside service will be held at a later date in SE Missouri. In lieu of flowers and food, we invite you to make a donation to the National ALS Association: [email protected]. to help researchers find a cure for this disease and to support those that have it as they have done for us.
