Miss Evelyn Myrtle Collier, a life-long resident of Newton, Alabama, died Monday, January 31, 2022, at the age of 79.
Funeral services for Miss Collier will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from Newton Baptist Church with Reverend Bobby Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Newton City Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the Church Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until service time.
Miss Collier was born December 11, 1942 in Newton, Alabama to the late Palmer Lee Collier and Jessie Beryl Williams Collier. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Samford University. Miss Collier taught school for several years before serving as the Principal of Newton Elementary School for thirteen years. She loved teaching children and music.
She is survived by one sister, Jessica Sammons of Newton; two nephews, Bobby Sammons and Jack Sammons; one great nephew, Tristan Andrews. Numerous cousins also survive.
