Obituary: Miss Rachel Fondren
Miss Rachel Fondren of Hartford went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 following an unexpected illness. She was 18.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, at Hartford Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Kroll and Rev. Bruce Spivey officiating. Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made to the Hartford Baptist Church Youth Group, 105 E. Burch St., Hartford, AL 36344.
Serving as honorary pallbearers: Faculty and staff of Geneva County High School, Middle School, Elementary School and the GCHS Class of 2014.
Rachel was born November 20, 1995 in Houston County to her loving and proud parents, Paul and Janie Shields Fondren. As a devout Christian, Rachel loved her Lord and was a member of Hartford Baptist Church. She graduated with honors from Geneva County High School in May, 2014. After graduating Rachel enrolled as an Ambassador at Enterprise State Community College. Rachel loved sports, and her dream was to attend Auburn University where she was to pursue a career in Sports Journalism. The love that Rachel had and shared with her family was priceless.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Yvonne Shields and her uncle, Mark Fondren.
Survivors include her parents, Paul and Janie Fondren, Hartford; her sister, Sarah Jane Fondren and her brother, Patrick Fondren both of Hartford; grandparents; Archie and Sue Fondren, Hartford; grandfather, Randy shields (Dean), Hartford; great grandfather, Raifford Jarrett, Hartford; aunt, Suzanne Bush (Scott), Skipperville; two uncles: Jay Shield (Rylla), Hartford and Jeff Shields (Amy), Sharpsburg, GA, several loving cousins, friends, great aunts and uncles.
