WEBB…Mitchell “Mitch” Goodson, a resident of Webb, died early Saturday morning, June 15, 2024, in a Dothan Hospital. He was 72.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 17, 2024, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Billy Womack and Pastor Billy Gant officiating. Burial will follow in the Smyrna Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Smyrna Baptist Church cemetery fund, 1800 Husky Road, Dothan, Alabama 36303.
Mr. Goodson was born and reared in Houston County, son of the late Rex Goodson and Beatrice Floyd Goodson. He was a 1970 graduate of Dothan High School. He lived in Dothan and Webb all of his life. From an early age, Mitch was a gifted musician and formed his band, “Mitch Goodson and the Capers”. Mitch and his band played as house band for many venues and benefits in the Southeast. His last performance was at the Dothan Civic Center for the Norman Andrews Benefit. He was of the Baptist faith. Other than his parents, He was preceded in death by a special friend, Lamar Alley.
Surviving relatives are his sister, Lisa Marshall (Jack), Headland, AL; his twin brother, Mike Goodson (Peggy), Webb, AL; nieces and nephews, Blake Smith (Ashley, Brooke Ward (Dustin), Nicole Goodson (Carlos) and Rex Goodson (Kayla); two great nieces, Addy Smith and Ivey Ward; a great nephew, Daxon Ward. His very special friends, Betty Cochran (Johnny) and Carl Adams.
