HEADLAND. . .Mitzi Clark Watson, a resident of Headland, died Tuesday afternoon, January 13, 2015. She was 60.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 16, 2015, in the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Reverend Ricky Sowell and Reverend Norman Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wallace Community College Madeleine Nessi-Smith Memorial Scholarship, Wallace Community College Foundation, 5565 Montgomery Highway, Dothan, AL 36303, or to the Bethlehem Baptist Church “Building Fund”, 2506 State Highway 134, East, Headland, AL 36345.
Mitzi Watson was born and reared in Dothan, daughter of the late Ocie Winifred Clark and Helen Jewell Powell Clark. She was a 1973 graduate of Dothan High School. After graduation from high school, she enrolled at the University of Alabama Birmingham where she received an Associates Degree as a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. Mitzi was formerly self-employed as the owner and operator of Women’s Therapy & Wellness Center in Dothan. In earlier years, she was employed by Wallace Community College as one of the founding Instructors of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program. Mitzi was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church and the State of Alabama Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant Board of Directors.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Tyrone Watson (Leigh), Headland; and Nic Watson (Denisha), Ft. Walton Beach, FL; a sister, Sonya Davis, Houston, TX; a brother, Tom Clark (Jane), Dothan; five grandchildren, Jack, Gray, Hadley, Hayze and Harrison Watson; a special friend, Joey Edwards.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Reggy Powell, Mike Powell, Ryan Mills, Buddy Clark, Josh Waddell, and Wade Clark.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Covenant Hospice and to Mitzi’s many special friends who lovingly assisted with her care during her illness.
