Molly Aileen McSevney Sherwood
Molly Aileen McSevney Sherwood, 87, of Dothan went home to rest with the angels on February 13, 2016 after a brief stay at Extendicare.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 15th at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Wayne Pierce, Philip Dampier and Chris Jones officiating and Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30-10:30 prior to the service. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Kevin D. Sherwood, Brian P. Price, Steven J. Price, David G. Sherwood, BJ Shaw, and Braden J. Stephenson. Flowers will be accepted, or contributions may be made to Wiregrass Christian Youth Camp.
Mrs. Sherwood was born on September 29, 1928 in St. Johns, Antigua, British West Indies to the late Elsie Gebhart McSevney and Walter James McSevney. She resided in St. Johns, until after her marriage to George Lester Sherwood on December 10, 1946. Mrs. Sherwood was a long-time member of Westgate Church of Christ and The Kit Club. She loved baking, was an avid reader and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George; sons, Stephen McSevney Sherwood, Michael Floyd Sherwood, James Walter Sherwood and granddaughter Karen Ann Munro and husband Timothy and great grandson Timothy.
Survivors include daughters, Sharon Ann Sherwood Donahue of Kentucky, Molly Aileen Sherwood Munro (Horace) of Texas, Patricia Diane Sherwood Price (James “Red”) and Laura Marie Sherwood Stephenson (Dale) of Alabama; sons, David George Sherwood of Alabama, and Kevin Paul Sherwood (Kathleen) of Florida; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff on Hall Four of Extendicare including Miss Diane, and to Kayla Glover for the special care they extended to Molly during her stay there.
