MORRIS BYRD PETERSON
HEADLAND…Morris Byrd Peterson, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Sunday morning, June 27, 2021, at his home. He was 83.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Pastor Ronald Baker officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. before the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Peterson was born in Headland, Alabama to the late Lee “Buck” Peterson and Vera Martha Peterson. He is retired from the City of Dothan Street Department as a heavy equipment operator. Byrd was a man of few words, but when he spoke, the words were powerful and full of love and lasting. He was a hardworking man that loved his family unconditionally. He also loved riding his tractor. One of his favorite sayings was “brush yourself off and go on”. If you knew Byrd, you knew his favorite attire included blue jeans and a cap.
Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Peterson and a sister, Gloria Peterson.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his daughter, Tami Peterson of Headland, AL; his son, J.R. Peterson of Troy, AL; his grandchildren, Tiffany Willburn (Travis) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Alyssa Norton of Headland, AL, Gage Finch of Troy, AL; his great-grandchildren, Gaines Wilburn and Levi Wilburn; his sisters, Mary Ann Owens (Ricky) of Midland City, AL, Margie Peters (Marvin) of Rehobeth, AL, Judy Peterson of Midland City, AL; his brothers, Pete Peterson (Melinda) of Eufaula, AL, Kenneth Peterson of Midland City, AL, Tommy Peterson (Tammy) of Dothan, AL, Len Peterson (Marie) of Dothan, AL, and Billy Peterson of Abbeville, AL; and a host of nieces and nephews.
